Ok Pro's, I need your help on this one.

While searching quarter rolls I came across this one. At first glance I thought I found a silver quarter because the edge is all silver (no copper). However, it only weights 5.73, not 6.25 that of a 90% silver quarter. Also, it's from the P mint, not S.

It does weight more than a standard clad quarter (5.67), so I'm not sure what l got. I included some pics of it sandwiched between some clad quarters so you can see a comparison of the silver edge vs. a clad quarter edge with copper showing.

The added weight, plus the odd texture on the reverse, would make me think it had been plated, post mint.

You could try a tiny scratch somewhere inconspicuous, like deep in a reed.

yes, scratch one of the incuse areas of the reeded edge and see if you can discover the copper core.

Took Brandmeister's suggestion and scratched in a reed. Found copper after some of the silver plating flaked off.

If it is all nickel, it will be attracted to a magnet.
