Hello,

I recently found this 1936 Wheat penny with a variety 3 DDO error. What do you guys think about this one?

Thanks

If you want any opinion on grading you will have to show clear pictures of obverse and reverse.

@mon, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes that looks like a doubled die to me too. Having overall pics of both sides of the coin would help to confirm, but based on the amount of circulation wear that I am seeing, I'm not sure that there is enough numismatic value here to justify getting it slabbed.

Here is a link to Variety Vista where many of the 1936 Doubled Dies are listed, with pictures. The process of variety attribution is:

1. Identify a potential variety (DONE)
2. Find the strongest area of the coin showing the variety (DONE I believe)
3. Find a listing on Variety Vista or other reference site showing the same or similar variety (follow the link below)
4. Match the "markers" shown on the reference site to your coin (very important step)
5. With the above done, you have attributed the variety. Post to the forum for congrats and kudos.
6. If you can't find the variety on any of the sites, post to the forum for opinions on potential new listing.

Sure looks like it is DDO-003 which shows the N/W directional spread.

As Dearborn requested, a full pic of the obverse & reverse please.

Looks good to me. Also a DDO is a variety, not an error.
