I've had this Large Cent for awhile and have been attempting to identify it. The best I can do is find that it most closely matches the "1794 Head of 93" due to the distance of the head from, and letter-alignment of the top of hair to Liberty. The person I bought it from was told by the seller it was a "1795 Lettered Edge", but I don't think so. Is it possible there are any masters of detection that can identify the variety on this very worn coin? Any help would be appreciated.

BDLC: The reverse is (almost) immediately recognizable as that of the 1794 S-19, Head of '93. On the edge, can you see the tiny leaf after DOLLAR? Does it point up or down? Points Up: S-19b, down for S-19a. Great find!

Wow, thanks so much Oldgrouchyguy. Here's an image of the "Dollar" edge, and a more balanced image of the reverse.

One key attribution point for all 1794 Heads of '93 is that the outer edge of the forelock on Liberty's head always lines up with the spacing between the letters T and Y.

I can't tell if this is the case with your coin. It could well be, and I hope it is, but I have trouble seeing due to the extent of wear and corrosion.

In case it helps, I am adding a link to an 1794, S-19 Head of 1793 just sold at the recent EAC auction.

GERMANICVS: Thanks so much for the info and the link. You posted a link to an S-19b, meaning the leaf on the edge after "Dollar" is pointing down on the image of the one I posted? Thanks for taking the time to look at it.
