I don't normally like to dive into things too expensive or outside of my budget... But I purchased a 1950 proof Jefferson nickel today from ebay.

I have a good deal of the proofs, as well as the older proofs. I would like to get into some of the older ones as well, and I figured this might be a good way to start. This is quite an expensive purchase for me however. The other oldest proof I have is the 57, which might have cost 5 bucks.

The Jefferson nickel series is still my favorite personally. They are one of the easiest and most collectible series of coins IMO. But I figured since I have many of the "regular" proofs I would step it up a bit and go for some of the older ones. I don't know if I will go older than 1950 or not, as some of these are super expensive.

Hopefully my purchase is worthwhile!

Looking at the PCGS site (not NGC), there appears to be a substantial difference in value between a PF-64 at $38 and a PF-64 Cam at $110 and a DCam really skyrockets to $700. While your slab doesn't carry the Cameo designation, the picture of the obverse sure looks cameo to me. What does the reverse look like?

Well that looks at least Cameo. Can't say if DCAM. Nice coin! Congrats.

Thanks! I was just happy enough to find an older Jefferson proof.

Nice looking proof Jefferson! I say the reverse prevents it from being a CAM but very close - nice purchase!

Very nice. The mark above Monticello probably held it back from Cameo.

That's about as close as you could get to cameo, couldn't say why it missed the designation. Nicer one for sure.

There were only a bit more than 50,000 of those minted back in the day, and fourteen years later there would be almost 4,000,000 made in 1964. Enjoy the coin!
