Since ebay and USB scopes started in Oz around 2000 dozens,probably hundreds, of new errors/varieties in pre-dec Coins have been ID.
Sad thing is the market for these has gone cold since ebay started as Collectors have realised they are very common,hopefully it will pick up again.

Sorry all, didn't realise it was an old thread. The last time I responded to an oldie it was flagged as old.
Regarding the market in these coins going cold, I'm not in it to sell any of mine and quite frankly, the lower the market goes the more affordable it will be for me to upgrade my roughies.
Swaps maybe, once I'm eligible in this community.
I get a big thrill finding errors and new varieties, and it is good to find like minded collectors.
As always, the advice on this forum is invaluable. Thanks to all.

Cheers Basil, we must be of similar vintage. I also sold papers and collected newsagent money around 1964 when I was 9 - 10yo.
My father and grandfather were the avid collectors back then and I would help out by spinning coins for them looking for upsets.

Hi Ttkoo and Basil. It has been a long time between posts eh, but the info above is what I have found noodling over the years. I actually just put a pair of 1924 filled 4's in 2x2's yesterday, one with the London and one with the Indian obverse, and was going to start a thread on the filled 4's but saw this today. I have a penny error and variety set with over 650 coins that I have found by searching through many kilos of pennies, and I have another 8 kg on the way to look at. Cheers.
