Very nice, matchbox!

It has been a very long time since my Eisenhower dollars lived in a folder. This brings back some memories.

jbuck, can I ask how you keep them now? I've only been collecting Ikes for less than a year and bought this folder to place them in. I have some coins in 2X2's, some in folders and some laying about.

What is the best way to keep / store / display them?

I keep them in a Dansco album.

My Eisenhower dollar album was my very first Dansco album (December 1984).

This thread got me digging out my Ike Album. Cool coin! I really like the design, both the regular and the bicentennial. So I took some snaps of the Proofs. I hope you all enjoy them! (The first 73s and 74s are the clad proofs, the second are 40% silvers).

Yummy!

Did you remove these coins from your Dansco to take the pictures or were they already loose? If the former, you are much braver than I am!

The Eisenhower dollar is the one coin that always made me nervous while putting them in the album. There is not a lot of room for error on the slides!

Just wanted to show how I store mine. Right now keeping the silver Ike's in what I call my dollar coin case. I have all the silvers except the the 1973 silver proof. I have been putting the P and D Ike in 2X2's. When I do get them all I think I will move to a Dansco.

To me it seems hard to find really nice ones. I look at a lot of mint sets and don't really see many I like. Of course I am always looking for the best deal. And I don't bye slabbed coins.

Stewart - Thanks for the info, I new what type 2's are .. did not know they were called August release.

Sorry about the poor quality pics .. sometimes I can not get the lighting right.

GoldRush,

Very Cool case are those commercially available?

As far as the 72 type2 there are two different versions
of the type 2 March and August releases
A variety inside a variety.
The Ike adventure just does not seem to end
finding all kinds of cool different varieties
and in such a short series, Too much fun

Moe, BEAUTIFUL PROOFS!

I can see I have a lot to learn with the Ike's. I will have to really read some of the link's I have picked up on here.

Yes, the coin cases are made by Lighthouse. I bought one from Wizard coins and another from Vernon coins.
I really like them both, the other I have for my half dollars, it is a brief case type set up.

COINAHOLIC,
Yes ALL are welcome, By the way VERY NICE coin.
as much as an Ikeaholic (ha ha)as I am I just realized I have
not had the opportunity to add one of the Eisenhower Centennial
coins to my collection. I am going to have to keep my eyes open for one.
I do have one of the presidential series three inch bronze medals
that sits on my desk on a small tripod like holder. "I LIKE IKE"

GoldRush58,
As a collector my interest flows from one series to another at different times, Always has. from the Morgan and Peace VAMS to Walking Liberty halves to Lincoln Cent's and so on. When I decided
to give my brain a small break from Variety hunting and build a simple Ike Set in a Dansco I figured short series,Easily available, Inexpensive. Then I started the research and found my assumptions
about the Eisenhower dollar series could not have been more wrong.
More Varieties in this short series than I ever could have imagined.
A lot of the varieties are unknown at this time by the general collecting public and a lot of the experts. And more varieties are still being discovered all the time. At least 3 that I can think of of the top of my head since last fall. It felt like I was witnessing and being involved with what the Morgan and Peace Variety hunters "VAMS HUNTERS" must have felt at the beginning of the their varieties coming to light. It has been a very exciting couple of years in coin collecting for me with this series. Though at time I admit to having to take my share of Excedrin "aspirin" trying to get my head wrapped around all the things involved with the Ike's because the new finds are coming fast and furious. But the challenge is what draws me to any
coin series.

Why are you so sure that I did not?

I have one in a 1990 Prestige Proof set.

I want to get a second one for the Commemorative Dollar hole in my 7070.
