If you think that off-center strike is wild, check this one out. It's currently up for auction on Heritage.

I sold this 1971 years ago. I should have had it slabbed.

Returned to the LCS, before having my oil changed. Same store where I purchased, some Ike's in the blue mint envelopes, 40% silver. Well he had 6 more 1971, and a lone 1972. Asking $9.00, ask for a quantity discount, so OTD for $60.00. Quite pleased.

The store was busy, must be a lot of stimulus money floating around. GL Webekin

Sorry about the two photos. I could not get the light right today. Are there many of these Ike's from KFC still around? I tried to find one online and could not!

Your opinion on grade and value will provide entertainment and appreciated feedback. Sorry about the sub-optimal lighting.

Question about mintage of the IKE 1972 type 1,2,3 dollars.
From what I have found 75,890,000 1972's were minted. Does anybody know the breakdown between the 3 types?

I have never seen it reported. I feel it could only be estimated, maybe based on grading populations.

You would think that current pricing at least gives you an indication of mintage and/or survival rates.
For instance, considering that the Type II is about an order of magnitude more expensive than either Type I or III, I would guess the Type II was minted/survived about 5-10x less.

Edit to add: PCGS shows estimated survival rates of the different types.

1) 35,000,000 https://www.PCGS.com/coinfacts/coin...1-type/87409
2) 500,000 https://www.PCGS.com/coinfacts/coin...type-2/97409
3) 35,800,000 https://www.PCGS.com/coinfacts/coin...-type-3/7409
