Seems like nothing, but we all know the 2009 coins can be tough!

Yup... I need to total up my searches. I'm guessing I've searched around 130K Dimes these past five years total, and I only seem to run across them about every 4,000 coins or so. To date, I've only accumulated 33 2009-P dimes, and 175 2009-Ds. Even without my recent hoards (9 silver rolls total), it is far easier for me to find a silver dime than a 2009-P out here.

Well searched $100.00 in dimes this week, no silver, started saving the recent minting's back to 1991 to start a book. Complained to the wife that I never find any S mints, then in the second from last roll, there it was my first S mint, a 2003S in very nice condition. GL HH Webekin

Searched 2,200 Dimes over the weekend... no silver, but did find a 1980-S Proof and 5 2009-Ds, one of which is a full BU.

Last two boxes of dimes I have found no silver and still no 2009p. Did a box of Kennedy's no silver, and two boxes of quarters no silver. Guess the word is out about silver in the St Louis Metro area. I'm not giving up. I did get some good finds. Not sure dimes are really worth it, but I do like searching.

With the 2009-Ps (and also 2009-Ds), I think geography is everything. Some parts of the country never got them released at all. I was going back on this thread, and it seems a few people could find them in 2010-2011, but those cases were mostly the exception, not the rule. Here in SoCal, I find about two 2009-Ps for every three boxes worth of dimes searched.

As for silver, I think there's a slightly better chance of finding silver out of CWR than MWR, so maybe try to switch that up and see if your luck is better. Personally, I like to get a combination of MWR and CWR from as many different banks as possible and if you happen upon a really good batch, take note of where you got the coins and go back to that bank - worked out really well for me, as you can see from the last couple of pages.

I have tried other Banks, but same ol, same ol. I think I will drive to Kentucky this weekend and have a go at it. See a friend while I'm there. Most banks wont let me buy from them if I dont have an account.

I hope you didn't do the latter and find them.

Was checking on eBay and rolls of BU 2009-P dimes (when they're available) are going for almost $70. A roll of BU 2009-D dimes goes for $25-$30. I have to assume that a lot of the Philly dimes (like the nickels) went to Puerto Rico and never saw the mainland. They made twice as many Philly dimes than Denver ones in 2009, so I have to think this is why the prices reflect the opposite of the mintages.

A lot of the sales of these coins go to people who are putting together entire sets of Roosevelt dimes for sale on eBay and other places. Because of that, circulated examples are also in heavy demand. I would guess that if I were able to get together a roll of circulated 2009-P dimes, I would have no problem getting $50 or more for it. And I'd likely have no problem putting up one of my rolls of 2009-Ds and getting $20-$22 (or more) for it.

#John77 Oh Dang.... I got right at a roll of 2009 D's, and got s,s. That agrivsting because I had 2 of the P to choose from to complete the set. I am only missing 2009 P and 2021 PDAs. I actually think the Kennedy set was easier.
