Johnny54321, that is a great 8 escudo, and I hope the start of a great type set (or get really aggressive and go for a date set LOL). We'll be expecting you to start posting in the World Coin section as your collection grows. Come on over to the darkside!

Old old thread ....but does anyone see any issues with this coin regarding authenticity?

The diameter is 22.5-23, weight is 6.5 g, a little low but the reeding has been largely filed off (about 70%)... I am considering it along with two 1/2 escudos... Anyone still reading this thread thank you!

Can't say, but the graffiti would bother me.

That 1777 2 escudos looks genuine to me. Pity about the damage. I would pass.

The 4 escudos of Maria show by turtleoverhead is very nice. Seems nearly mint new to me. The 8 escudos is also almost new. The obverse of 1731 Minas often has that grainyness, I dislike it but it is not wear damage.
