@SPP-Ottawa, what condition is your 1944c penny?

@Fredor, do you think we're going to get a chance to see any of the pages from Barry's book soon? I can't wait : )

I am hooked on the coins of Newfoundland as well thanks to my latest find... http://goccf.com/t/113191

An 1880 cent with narrow/oval O.

I'm going on the hunt for more coins today.

Which? Canadian or NFLD?

If you like NFLD 1-cent coins, then here is some eye candy for you. Click on the photos for some breathtaking coins!

http://www.PCGS.com/SetRegistry/all...aspx?s=16703

My coin(s) do not even come close to that set. Putting 1-cent coins aside, the absolute best coins from NFLD belong to this collector:

http://www.PCGS.com/SetRegistry/Oth...aspx?m=18347

Click on the collection links to see the grades! It is a shame that the owner of that set does not have his coins photographed. I have held these coins in my hands at the pub at Torex a couple of times, and was floored with the coins in hand.

After some soul searching, I have decided to limit my collecting to Canadian 1-cent and nickel dollar coins. I will be bringing my NFLD 1-cent collection to Nuphilex, and putting inside my case to sell. Anything that does not sell, will be consigned to Geoffrey Bell Auctions for the next Coin Expo (June 2013).

I do like NFLD coins, this was a very tough decision for me. But, I would rather focus on my two main collecting series, all strikes and varieties of Canadian 1-cent and nickel dollars - if you dive headfirst into a series, it should be all or nothing, and I was just not passionate about diving into the NFLD 1-cent series... I think I will miss my 1938 the most (see page 9 of this thread). But, someday when I get a 1985 New Zealand mule dollar and a 1982 Constitution dollar coinage axis strike - I think it will be forgotten...

I do not intend to use the buy/sell/trade option here. If any CCF collectors of higher end NFLD 1-cent coins want to send me a message, I can reply with a list of what I have (grades and varieties). I have not decided if I want to part with my 1873 mint state with a monster triple die clash, see here:

SPP,
there was a NZ mule in an Australian auction about 2 months or so ago.
It was the best I had ever seen. Was advertised as Brilliant Gem uncirculated by the auctioneer.
Call price was 12,000 AU dollars... It did not sell.
