BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 15, 2005--Superior Galleries, Inc. ("Superior") (OTCBB:SPGR - News) announced today that it was awarded the Dr. Allan Mandelstamm Collection of U.S. type coins that will anchor its February 2006 Beverly Hills Elite auction. The Dr. Allan Mandelstamm Collection has a multi-million dollar insured value, and contains many impressive highlights that seldom cross the auction block. The collection was assembled over a 19-year period with considerable assistance from veteran Superior Galleries Private Client Service Group leader, Mike Bonham. Said Mr. Bonham, "I am extremely excited to be a part of the process of helping Dr. Mandelstamm market his coins. Dr. Mandelstamm's uncompromising high standards for quality will pay tremendous dividends as new buyers compete to acquire these carefully chosen rarities, all of which exhibit beautiful, original surfaces."

Highlights from the Dr. Allan Mandelstamm Collection include: a complete gold and silver Panama Pacific set, a gem 1911 gold proof set, a gem 1899 gold proof set, an 1879 $4 gold "Stella" graded Proof 64, a rare proof-only 1876 $3 gold, an AU 1796 $10 gold, a complete gold and silver type set including a superb MS67 Lafayette dollar and an MS67 Grant with Star half dollar, a pewter Continental Dollar, a 1792 half disme, and many other desirable coins of the highest quality.

Superior Galleries CEO Silvano DiGenova commented, "I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Mandelstamm and reviewing his collection to assist him with a valuation and a recommendation as to how he could realize the highest prices for these beautiful coins. Dr. Mandelstamm obviously took great care in choosing coins of the highest quality, and I couldn't be more pleased to feature this impressive collection in our Beverly Hills Elite Auction. I have no doubt that many of these coins will make headlines in the numismatic press, as new buyers drive prices in a battle to win lots. I've participated in many auctions with collections of this quality during my career, and this auction rates to be a very exciting event."

The Mandelstamm Collection will be available for previewing at the FUN Show in January 2006, by appointment at Superior Galleries' Beverly Hills state of the art show room, or on public view before the February auction.
