I was curious...do you deposit your coin finds at the bank, or do metal detectors keep all of their finds? I guess more than anything, I am curious if you track how much face value you find in coins. I am trying to convince myself that I should take up this part of the hobby, and that it will easily pay itself back at some point.

We clean the coins then wrap em. Once I have about $100 I deposit them in the bank. We have a separate account for out detecting. About twice a year we will draw out the money and buy silver with it. We currently have 55oz of silver and close to $400 in the account. This represents just over 2 years of detecting... I seem to do much better than the average detectorist..

And another 50 cent piece!

Is there such things as detecting competitions. If so you should probably enter.

Hi Richard,
I was wondering what you tumble with the coins-soap and water, sand, walnut shells, steel bbs, or some combination? I currently have about $20 in change found so far between last year and now...I'll be needing to clean them before I take them to the bank. Thanks, Mike
