My box of Fed halves that I ordered didn't come in yet ....so I had to go "half huntin'". Hit a bank that gave me $200.00 in "bank rolled halves"......and there was no silver, no NIFC's, no nuthin' ! (The teller even proudly told me that he personally rolled them)...and obviously it ended up being someone else's dump.....  Went to another bank for nickels......they said no....cause I'm not a member ! Went to another bank and scored two boxes of Brinks Cents......nuthin' so far with those. (and they wouldn't give me their last box of nickels !) ........... SIGH ....... |

About the last 5 boxes I have done have been absolute scheisse. No silver, and just about nothing worth keeping. Don't know whether or not to cancel boxes amd stay with more cents!

For the last month or so I have been looking through all of the halves that I can get. Being in a REAL small town it has not been many, about $700 worth and I have found absolutely NOTHING! I went to dump the last ones that I had and the teller says " I have five halves do you want them". Of course I said YES and got a 1969! That means that I am still hooked!

Tls867, I don't know about them, but I had a blast! Really, it was fun!  PS: The lines of poetry, BTW, were borrowed from Alfred Lord Tennyson, The Charge of the Light Brigade (...I just felt they sorta fit).  |

Went through 2 boxes on friday and found 2 40% silver and two S proofs. It looks as if everyone else here is having similar results -slow searching and only a few keepers.

Thats what I'm sayin! I wonder if we can generalize a search strategy from this. I'm saying, this is probably good to know, but I don't know that it helps us very much, just in and of itself. Maybe we need more pieces to the puzzle, for something like that. OTOH, maybe I don't even know what I'm saying (...yeah, that's been known to happen, too).  |

I'm going against my better judgement here, but yesterday I ordered one "BRINKS BOX" for this coming week.
I had stopped ordering them for over a month and I'm going only with String & Son boxes right now.
Let's see if I get at least ONE keeper out of this box!

AFIK, String & son supplies the wrappers. CWI does the wrapping, I could be wrong. Was anyone searching halve rolls 2-3 years ago? When I started then silver was fairly abundant. I was the only one asking for halves....within the last year it has been absolutely nuts...tellers saving rolls for "other customers that ask", someone was "just in and bought us out", etc, I even had someone poach my dime bag that I have picked up regularly for the last year. Understand that silver in the wild has been consumed, and the finds made now are the small amount of silver trickling back into circulation. Just my .50

CWI? eloboarte please. I always wondered how the wrapping proccess happens. i.e. I bought a box of cents and I noticed a few rolls missing pennies. now, I know it was not the bank staff(sealed box) but also, I noticed that one roll had a wheat on the end, so my theory of someone cherry picking the wheats went out. but it looked so obvious that one was missing, and I counted 49. so I was thinking, " who or what wraps these?" (n.f. string n sons)

CWI=Coin Wrap Incorporated. They supply the machines used to roll the paper-wrapped coin.

I thought String just supplied the wrappers to the armored car companies that happen to use them. I thought the latter rolled and boxed their own coin and operated out of their own area vaults. Don't count on that, that's just what I'd always assumed...

string only supplies wrappers and the actual cardboard boxes, they do not provide any actual wrapping services themselves they only sell the supplies required in doing so
