So it has been confirmed why I have yet to see a 2011 5 pence or 10 pence coin.

Copper and nickel to steel change is finally going ahead.

First I'd seen of this! Just shows how the intrinsic value of certain metals within coins has rocketed. Not a huge fan of steel coins so I'll stick to accumulating the more uncommon 50p's and £2's!

Maybe it's more about plummeting of the nominal value than rocketing of the intrinsic.
