Why stewpid?

Takes a fistful of fives to amount to anything, but the law has the same penalties for fives as hundreds.

He passed four at a friend's bookstore. If you're going to turn fakes into product, how about buying silver, gold, or something you can return for a cash refund at another store in the chain? Resale value on books is about 2/3 of nothing.

Makes perfect sense to me............... if he is going to steal a 2001 model vehicle then he should just be able to pass around fake $5 bills. Now, when he gets out of jail, he can upgrade to $100 bills and maybe a spanking new 2012 vehicle to steal.

Practice makes perfect.

$5 might not come under the same scrutiny as higher denominations. The fake notes didn't get him caught, but the wrong plates on the vehicle did.

It will only take 100,000 of those fake $5 bills to make bail..

It is interesting to see how dumb people are.

They didn't charge him with counterfeiting though. Just using them; but he wasn't using them. He was just using them in his underwear. Maybe it was for extra insulation?

It would be interesting to hear his defense in court and where he got those notes from. I would love to see the notes, to see how good they were.

I can see why counterfeiting the $5 and not the $10 or $20, since it takes better equipment with the new coloring to counterfeit anything larger than a $5 note now, so the new notes are working at preventing counterfeiting. I still see the old $5 notes circulating well though and not any $10 or $20.

I wish they would give the $1 note a face lift though. I bet they will be counterfeited in the near future, if they don't make the same changes to them.

You know best thing for the one dollar note is to quit printing them. See what I did there?

Ahhh yes. Even better idea. I like how you think outside the box. And the same reason to stop printing the $2 note too.

My bookstore friend says they were obvious fakes, he just kept her occupied with chit-chat and she didn't pay attention.
