I am looking at a potential Trade Dollar for my 7070 collection and would like to get a feel of what the CCF members has to say. I like the look of it, but we all know how lighting is very important in images.

Thanking you in advance!

Nothing is sending up red flags to me. It does appear quite dull which would indicate some industrial strength dipping. From the smoothness of the talons I would say it's an AU. Does the pricing seem reasonable? I would also ask the seller for an accurate weight on it and of course a magnet test... PG

I have never seen that mark on the eagle before, I have no idea what would cause that. I don't see any of the classic things I automatically look for when looking at these Trade Dollars but I have been up for 44 hours so far and my brain is kind of like mush right now

Do you trust the seller? With a Trade Dollar, so widely counterfeited, trust is everything when buying one raw. If you don't trust this seller completely, walk away. There are plenty on the market. I'm not saying it's bad - it looks right - but between altered surfaces and the chance of counterfeits, I wouldn't buy one raw. I'm not that good at evaluating them.

Excellent advice and thank you for turning my eyes away from the light of a "potential" mistake.

Looking for a certified example.

The denticles around noon don't look right, but that could be a trick of the lighting. Coins like this should sell with the agreement that if the TPG says fake, seller refunds and pays related expenses.

biggfredd, I see what you are referring to, and I too thought that it was lighting. Thanks for your expertise as well. Only if the sellers had the scruples enough to offer such a guarantee about TPG fees if the coin they sold was "fake". The seller would probably use the "I did not know" defense.
