There is space in between the two left edges of the D. Do you think that's machine doubling?

I double/double-checked it under my microscope at its highest power....you're right...it's MD.

I'm right? Glad you were able to find out. I have noticed that a lot of Washington quarters especially silver ones have MD on them.
