Nice note. On that date I was serving in the Navy and stationed in Japan.

12 years after that date was the last time (so far) that I broke my leg while snow skiing.

So... since 2000 was a leap year that makes this note 13 years old ?

I counted 11th birthday. (2012 - 1968 = 44 = 11 cycles of 4)

2000 was a leap year, so 11th birthday is correct.
