Last summer, local coin dealer turned me on to block numbers. It looked kind of fun, and not very expensive, just face value, so I figured, what did I have to lose.
Each paycheck that I take to my local credit union, I would get out my usual "allowance" for the two weeks, and take out a little extra to look for needed block numbers, and stars. I was in last weekend, and when the telller pulled the asked for cash out of the drawer, I looked in and saw an extra stack. I noticed that there was a star note $20 on top, so I asked if I could get that one.
"Oh no." she says, "I get all of the star notes from all of the drawers, for my husband."
Argggh, no wonder I can't find any!

"Oh, no," you said "I keep all my money at the credit union across town."

Change banks! If she watches out for those, I bet the others watch out for old coins, etc. They must have that branch locked up tight so no good stuff gets out.

That's too bad she saved them for someone else. You don't hear many tellers doing that, which is very strange. They could easily cherry pick what comes in pretty easily for silver, star notes, error coins/notes, etc. They wouldn't have to look for varieties or minor errors, but just ones that are visible with the naked eye. I don't understand why most of them don't do something so easy. People don't get paid much to be a teller, so you have to supplement your income some how.

I guess it would be along the same line of them saving them for me, if I were to ask. He just asked, first.
Oh well, there are ways around it.

According to some that would be a fire able offense. Something about the law saying that all customer deposits are available to other customers till the close of business. Something about it not being the banks money till then.

I don't think that it would be worth my time to do anything legal about it. By the time anything happened with it in the court system, we would both be long gone and retired. Plus, all she has to do is put them under a non star bill in the same little bin, and no one would even know it was there.
