I have reported this and I hope that it is pulled before the buyer gets stung Obviously a hammer job with another penny on top of this one

It takes some bidders the bitter taste of being ripped off before they learn Bet he/she thought they were getting a real bargain

I saw vice toothmarks on the rim of the obverse. It is fairly obvious what happened here, that this error is post mint damage ( PMD). I reported him also as an act of goodwill.

What really concerns me about these cretins is that they will put new collectors off the hobby with their dishonest and criminal behavior. Once these new collectors get stung that is normally all that is needed to turn them of this great hobby and we will loose an up and coming numismatist, Just because there are a minority of ratbag sellers out there

They must have quite a production line going.... Seems like they thought they hit the jackpot with this listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...270885305268Their decimal listings seem to attract some particularly "interesting" prices.

Unbelievable, can't believe anyone would be naive enough to think this would be an error.

He just bought a roll of 1979 1c and 1981 20c. Want to bet me a dollar that a 1979 1c "error" and a 1981 20c "error" will appear shortly?

Has anyone reported this guy anywhere other than eBay?

Do people honestly think the AFP or likewise are going to do anything about it. My money is on them not giving a crap about someone making bottle top impressions on demonetised coins when they have other things to contend with eg. those fake $1 coins from china. Dont get me wrong what they are doing is vlearly wrong, preying on unsuspecting people but in comparison its likely not to get any attention.

The difficulty in prosecuting this guy with any sort of statutory offence is that proving that he actually defaced/mutilated/changed etc the coins. It's in all probability that he did, but in a court the burden of proof is "beyond all reasonable doubt".
It doesn't fall under state jurisdiction, & would be referred to the AFP for investigation. They would only look at this guy if he was counterfeiting.
Having said that maybe a course of conduct ie his eBay history, might spark an investigation.
just an opinion of course.
