Just thought I would show some pictures of the second section of my coin album. Sections include "foreign coins in my change", "bruised and battered coins", "mint errors" and "my prizes". I have shown my "foreign coins" in a previous post, so here are a selection of "Mint Errors".

Top left hand side - $1 "Rabbit Ear Cud". I have found these in 1994, 1998 and 2008 dates. I only have a Nikon COOLPIX camera, so here I have taken the photo through my eyepiece magnifier for better resolution of features.
Top right hand side - messy "50" in the 50 cent piece. I have found these in 1999, 2007, 2008 and 2009 dates.
Bottom - "Queen Lip Cud".

Another lot is below

Top left hand side - unusually raised rim 20 cent piece of 1981.
Top right hand side - a very messy double strike 50 cent piece. It must have been a slack day at the mint !.
Bottom left hand side - double strike on the 2008 5 cent piece. Extra "rim" around the edge of the other 5 cent piece.
Bottom right hand side - badly struck $1 coins. A mate of mine found one of these. Note the similar date - 1999.
I wonder if there were "bad years" at the mint, resulting in a high incidence of badly struck coins ?. And the reason why ?.

Squire
