Hi trout1105

I collect the circulating "Golden $1" coins.
Actually, I have found it easy to get all of these in your small change.
Now I am working on obtaining these in very good condition.
Interestingly, I have found it most difficult to get the 1996 Sir Henry Parkes and the 1997 Smithy in good condition. I wonder why ?.
But I have also been lucky in finding a 1991 "mint your own" roo coin in my change.
Would love to find a "Victoria Cross" $1 coin amongst the "shrapnel"

Thank you for the comments on the Shillings trout and enworb much appreciated.
I agree the 38 is a beautiful coin but what surprised me the most was that it was graded aUNC and the 52 was graded UNC by the same people although the reverse is good the obverse seems a little worn.

Trout I also collect the non silver dollars. I have all of them in UNC or better up to 2010. After that I have only collected a couple as I am not big on some of the designs or subjects that were issued.
Cheers

The 1938 appears to have cleaning hairlines on the obverse, the 1952 has friction across the high points, probably an AU55 at best.

Trout and Squire
I'm also collecting the $1 coins. The Henry Parkes coin doesn't seem to have much detail. I've looked at alot of them and agree, very had to find a good one.

I took the 1938 out of the 2x2 and there are no marks on the actual coin, thankfully they were only on the 2x2. I agree with you on the 52 that it should only be aUNC.
Cheers

Nice find on the 1991 mint your own coin, There were only 22,500 of these
All mine are from mint sets and other uncirculated coins sold singly or in mint packs of 2 or 4 coins.
I only started this set because I had to buy mint sets to finish my 20 cents set and the dollar and 2 dollar coins came with them.
I put them in an album and they looked a bit lonely so I have been slowly adding to them and voila a new collection evolved out of my leftover coins.
The 2 dollar coins are pretty easy to get but the dollar coins have such a wide array of different dates, commemorative designs and mint marks they are just as difficult as the 50 cent collection I am working on.
Don't ya just love this hobby there is ALWAYS something out there that will add to your collection

Yep & the continuous learning,i know of one collector who has every dollar coin ever produce, that is a huge collection in it's self,no idea on number but there have been a lot.
I was collecting all dollars at one stage but it just got too much, now I just buy the 4 coin packs x 2= 8 mint marks & mint sets.

What does the one in 200 sets mean, what makes it different from a normal mint set.

it's the Singapore Coin Fair issue. It basically says that this is one of only 200 sets made for the coin fair.
