I have putting together a set of small size one dollar bills. This eBay auction looked interesting .. but the signature looks like "Karr" to me not "Barr"
Does anyone else see it the same as I am.

That really does not look like a "B" to me.
Hi! Have US stamp accumulations to get rid of? PM me, maybe we can work something out.

Looks like Joe doesn't know his own name. That's a premium all by it self.

It wasn't that long ago when I thought that 'mint error' meant that something was wrong with my candy.

Part 2: I'm not saying that it is a fake, but the funny looking 'B' isn't the only problem. There are 3 autographed Barr notes on the site I posted. There seem to be hesitation markers on the eBay note.
But I am not an expert -- so take a look and decide for yourself.

I sure would like to bid on this note if I thought it was real .. but I agree .. the more I look at it . the more I too think it is fake.
The "J" does not look the same either.
I will pass on this one

I'm no handwriting expert but if Barr was signing a bunch of items at say a coin show, his signature would be rushed and not look as clean as on the $1 bill. Also take into account that for his signature to appear on a piece of currency that BP&E would clean it up slightly to have it look good on all notes. I'm thinking this because my kids use to collect sports signatures and rarely did those signed in front of us look like those on printed items. I would say that if the note is not very expensive and I wanted it, I would be willing to take a chance on it. It's easy to give advice when you are spending other peoples money!

I don't see how anyone could spell their name like that. I have spelled my name enough throughout my life that even in a big rush my B's do not look like a K. That doesn't even resemble a B to me at all so in my opinion someone else signed this note and may have told him that Barr signed it but without actually seeing another one he signed and it being authenticated and it looking the same way I just wouldn't pay a premium because of this signature and may even take some money off because I would be taking all the risk on it being genuine. If its a fake signature its just another bill someone wrote on and it brings the value way down to almost nothing. I got 3 Barr notes in circulation when I first started checking my bills for special things

after looking at the signature again nothing really matches up, the J is different, the s is also different along with the p and that is just in the name Joseph. I would not risk any amount of money on this bill without documentation to prove it was what the seller represents it as

Bryan I agree with you .. does look like someone just wrote his name on it
This note caught my eye, and I have a friend that has a $2.00 bill that Neff signed I thought maybe he would have like this one also. But not if isn't a real signature
I picked up a Barr star note at last weekends coin show and got another one this week off E bay. I had a regular Barr note, so that brings my total to three.
This one I will pass on

Bryan, that overlay tells the story. I stand corrected. Even a very tired Joe Barr did not write that signature.

I wasn't sure myself and that's why I figured I would make a .gif out of the known signed bill and the one on eBay to see if it was even close. I figured I would post the .gif here and let everyone else make their own minds up from the animation

The thing is, even if it is a genuine signature, it just doesn't look right and the next buyer will question it just as we have. There are other, less problematic ones for sale.
