So the wife tells me she wants some ice cream. I go to the grocery store. $4 for a box. I decide to go to the self checkout and for some reason I decide to use cash instead of my usual debit card. clink, clink, clink comes my change with a $2 rebate

not bad for 71 years in circulation :)

Nice find. I can remember finding a mercury dime in my change. It was what sparked my interest in coin collecting.
