I'm in a bit of a quandry with this one. The individual I got this coin from seemed to think it would grade extra fine, but I don't believe it will reach that level. I'm thinking very fine; however, just where in the very fine range is it? VF-25.....VF-30?
If it were going into your collection, what grade would you assign it?

I'd say VF-30 on this one.

Just me? I don't think this coin would grade higher than a VF-20. Compared to PCGS Photograde is almost a dead ringer for their F-15 coin.

Thanks guys.
Westcoin, I tend to go with the book "Making The Grade" when trying to determine the grade of a coin - color photos, and a mite easier on the eyes than some of the other books in print. Granted it only covers fifty of the most widely collected coins, but it works well for me.

shadowtrooper78 - you might want to check out a seller "bigdogedward" on eBay - not trying to put in a plug for the guy, but I've made several purchases (Morgans) from him, and I've never been dissatisfied with what I got - plus, he sends a free coin with each purchase.....you just might find the four Morgans you're looking for at an affordable price.

Thanks Ralph, I will check him out. The 4 in question are the 93-O, 95-O, 93-S and 94-P. I've been close on 3 of the 4. 93-S is going to have to wait until business is more profitable. Just have a hard time laying down 6k on a single date ....ugh why did I think a morgan set was a good idea haha.

I hear ya brother - there have been times when I questioned my sanity in deciding to collect Morgan dollars, but I've been at it for some years now, and, over time, I've developed a fondness for these big old silver dollars - started my first set back when you could still pick up common date Morgans for twelve to fifteen dollars - now I'm working on my third set. No, I'm not a wealthy man - I just set a little aside each month to go toward those key dates - takes awhile, but it works. Patience, and persistance are key words in this hobby.

VF20 from what I see. It's above a F15 grade for sure but a VF30 is a stetch. Maybe a 25 on a good day. Nice coin never the less!
