I found a flying eagle coin in a roll of wheat pennies, but this one has a hole in it, like it was put around a necklace or something. Is there any value to this? Or more just a novelty at this point? Thanks

What you have there is a 1857 Flying Eagle cent. The first year they made small sized cents for circulation in the United States.

Due to it being holed and banged up, you'd probably only get around $10 or less if you sold it online. Still, I'd consider it a fantastic thing to find in a roll of wheat cents!

Great find in a roll. It's a damaged coin thus it's value is greatly reduced.
I agree $5-10 value or somewhere near there.

With it already having a hole in it it would make a great charm for a charm bracelet so if you are going to sell it that would be a great way to market the coin for the most money. An amazing find in a roll of wheat backs.

They told (us) to open up the Embassy, or "we'll blow you away." And then they looked up and saw the Marines on the roof with these really big guns, and they said in Somali, "Igaralli ahow," which means "Excuse me, I didn't mean it, my mistake".

Thank you everyone! I was very very surprised to see it but disappointed about the hole. But I'm new to wheat searching. I'll take what I can get at this point. Thanks again :)

IF not planning on seling it, you may want to find a necklace for it and give to a girl, lady, your wife, for a present.

Awesome find! And because of the toning in the hole, it looks like it was made a very long time ago.

It was a 2 pound lot of pennies (6 rolls) that I purchased from eBay. The coin doesn't seem to be too too bad of shape considering the age. darn the hole! lol still a surprise to me
