Nina and I are trying to get on the same page with respect to grade and value on these two nickels, and we need opinions third through Nth.

Best photos I can muster:

A scan of the same two coins:

Help would be apreciated, thank you

Popping in to weigh in (thanks for the link!), my confusion stems from what looks to me like disparity between scans and pics (also because I'm new at this). In the pics I actually put a huge grade difference between the two (1936 = VF30, 1935 = G4/VG6 because it really looks like an in-between to me), but then via scan I went "but--wait, they don't--uh ARGENTUM CAN WE ASK SOMEONE WHO KNOWS MORE THAN ME PLEASE."

I put both at VF also. The dark on the 36 makes the details look bolder, but the amount of normal circulation wear is nearly identical.

I'd put the 35S at VF20, the 36S at F15. Mainly because of the increased wear on the date, buff body and horn a bit. But I am a tuff buff grader - and pics aren't easy to grade from.

The 35 looks like a VF and the 36 looks like a Fine.

I would say VF-20 for both. The 35 is a hair nicer.

Consensus seems to indicate VF on both of them.

Numismedia values them in that grade at $2 each, now. I paid $1 each for them in December. What sounds closer to right on the value?

about.com says 90 cents, but it also lists dealers' values, not retail. I've found them fairly reliable as a dealers' guide.
