Yeah, I've been having a hard time finding silver lately. Since I started roll searching about 7 months ago, I've found over 11 rolls of 40%, 1 1/2 rolls of 90% and 9 Franklins. But the last month I've only found 1 90%, & 7 40%. I've been expanding my search to different towns and little to be found. Yesterday I found a bank with 1 roll and when she handed it to me it was marked "Franklin" and taped shut on the ends. I opened it soon as I got back to my truck! Nothing...I had high hopes....and a big let down.

I just found my first 1970 Denver half dollar. Not much else 4 40% and 1 90% Kennedy halves. I have searched a couple of hundred boxes and this is the first 70-D.

Hey xavier - nice find on the Morgan - never found one of those searching. Did have a nice run this week on boxes got 3 walkers from 1 box and 5 bens from another couple boxes. Nice dates with the oldest an 18-s. Must have hit a collection dumped as there were a few proofs there to. Nice to get some variety to make it fun instead of the occasional 40% half! Totaled out at 30 coins for 4 boxes. I was happy after a run of skunks.

Oh, and awesome find on the 1880 Xavier! I don't think anyone on here has found one in one of those machines!

Nice forum, I have been reading for about a week and this is my first post. I have been CRHing for two weeks. We are doing fairly well with 40% halves. My wife and I found about 30 coins from searching about $1100. We seem to have a higher hit ratio from the loose teller coins than from rolls, but both are successful. My biggest find has been a 1923 Peace dollar mixed in with 13 other Ikes. I can't grade coins, but the Peace seems to be above average in condition. Anyways my questions is as follows. I purchased 10 rolls and every coin appears to be BU or near BU. I am trying to decide what to keep and what to discard. I took all of the 70's which is about a roll, and all of the 2002 to 2008 which was about (2) rolls. There were no 87s. The remaining (7) rolls all appear to be D and P from 1990 to 2001. Most of those are 99, 00 and 01. Any advice? Are these worth keeping or are they fairly common even in BU condition? I am primarily interested in Silver coins, but I don't want to pass on something that is valuable. I understand that "valuable" is a relative term, but if you could let me know what you would do, I would appreciate it. Any advice would be appreciated.

The copper nickel clads are not really worth keeping unless you want to pick the best one and build a set by year and mintmark. Hold onto the silver though!

So, you wouldn't keep any of the copper nickle clads? Not even the 70s or the 2002- 2008s?

I don't think they are going to go up in value, but if you want to pick out the best one of each date and build a set, you could do that. The problem is, there are so many of the things and no one wants them.
