Yes, but at a different bank than the one you buy them from! 1) You don't want the bank supplying you to get mad and not order them for you again! Banks really hate dealing with halves and most have to wait til they have $1000.00 bag full and pay to ship them back! 2) you don't want to search the same halves again! It helps to have accounts at 2 or 3 banks, and I use a bank with alot of branches as a "Dump" bank! This way I can use 2 or even 3 different branches to unload what I don't want. You want to isolate your dumps to as few places as possible without getting anybody mad at you, this way you still have alot of banks available to stop at and purchase customer wrapped rolls (these can be very rewarding at times...as long as your not purchasing from somebodys dump bank). Just a couple of days ago I got 5 rolls from a bank that usually only has a handful of halves. I got 20-40% and 1-90%. Others have been getting even better luck! just be organized and get in the habit of stopping in at banks and asking for halves. Set up some sort of routine and I would hit each local bank no less than twice a month. I hit all my locals at least once a week. and try to hit different towns at least once a week. I had one very good hit out of town. 10 rolls yielded
(60) 40%, (17) 90% and (8) 90% Franklins. You just got to be persistent. Sometimes you'll go through alot of "skunkers" before you find any silver.

I found a big of about 90 half dollars downstairs today and have no idea where they came from. Wasn't much only 3-40% in the whole hoard. I need a 1964 for my Dansco...yes I just just started the 7070 if you're wondering lol

Sounds to me like someone disposed of a collection, not knowing they were worth more than face, judging from the way the rolls were configured.

Roll hunting is pretty much a part time job for me to. Nice score on the barber! Was it from a machine or roll? What were the other two dates you've found?

A handful of halves from a teller drawer yesterday didn't have any silver, but it did have these two NIFC dates. Not a bad consolation prize!

I did so good on these last 2 boxes, I'm increasing the box volume beginning this week from 2 to 5, but at different banks where I have accounts so as to mix it up and see what develops!


This is my P/T job also! My new goal is to try and pull at least 50 pieces of Silver from 5 boxes each week- whether it be 40 or 90 % Silver.

Silver bullion prices for each 40% coin is around $2.50 per coin right now so if you pull 50 pieces of just 40% er's you just grossed around $125.00 for the week!

Not bad if you hit this goal for sitting on your butt going thru rolls! :)

Great find on the 1906 Barber- I just found my first Barber half dollar a few weeks ago also- a 1907 O in good condition.
