Congrats tls867! I check Credit Unions too! Sadly, around here they never seem to have any rolls, and rarely have any half dollars at all. Great Find!

Thanks Jbuck I appreciate the help!! Last night (late) I posted and never had problems with pics before so I didnt really pay attention to the codes, but after finding the mistake I reposted.
As far as my count goes I have approx 2 rolls of Walkers, 2 1/2 rolls of Franklin, and 3 1/2 rolls of Kennedy 64's, I didnt see any significant years, mint marks, or FBLs etc., but I have yet to really look for errors/ varieties, as I have been busy with other (mundane but essential) things.
One thing that suprised me though was how this credit union held on to these rolls, I thought all banks and such send out halves and other "funny money" as soon as they "get enough" as I've been told. Maybe credit unions are different?
This particular credt union is the one that I had posted on 9/29/09 as getting 6 rolls and finding 0, but I thought I would go back and find out what the rest the other rolls had. My last 2 weeks had been so discouraging, but we all know we cant give up!
That's when I hit 8 (out of 12) rolls of Silver! Persistance!
Yesterday I went back for another 8 rolls and nothing again, but I told them I would be back today for the rest! Will post.
I dont mind if I dont get anything for a long time, this will hold me, and certainly be a highlight of my "collecting days", (I am still new at it).
As an interesting side note, " 8" rolls is not quite accurate. If you look closely at the picture of my coins all together, at the bottom, 2 or 3 coins from the lower right is a 1994 Kennedy! The only clad I found in the silvers! (LOL)!

I picked up 6 boxes today. They turned out pretty good, and here's the break down.
3 boxes had -0- nothing
1 box had 1-1967
1 box had 42-40%ers, 7-1964, 3-walkers, 1-ben
1 box had 62-40%ers, 21-1964, 1-walker, 1-ben
Total-
105-40%ers
28-1964
1-1963
1-1957D
1-1941
1-1942S
1-1944
1-1945

Stopped in a bank I have never been to but have always thought about trying. It was a good call as I picked up 10 rolls (hand rolled). 6 rolls all looked the same and all yielded some silver...too bad I cleaned them out! I got 24 40% halves and 1 1964. Feels good to get back on track and it sounds like everyone is having some luck right now!

However, enough generally means a bag...and in the case of half dollars it is $1000.00 worth. I've had several banks tell me this and even had one bank refuse to sell me any because they finally got enough to send out! And I didn't have enough money to get the whole bag! |

I do not buy any $1000.00 bags of halfs only because I'm pretty certain a few other "collectors" are dumping halfs at this bank, including myself, because the only other local bank has a change counting machine that constantly have to change their half dollar bags at $100.00 and what a pain that is to have to have it changed 10 times!
I'd rather order boxes of halfs and then dump the whole amount at once and take my chances with the Fed.
Just my thoughts on it.

This bank doesn't have a Coinstar! They dump the rolled coins into a bag when they have $1000.00 worth. I figure somebody is dumping there, but the 2 rolls they did sell me had some 40% in them! They just refused to sell me anymore because they wanted to ship them out!

Well I bought the last 7 rolls at the credit union and OMG 1 more roll of Silver! Wow I have been blessed !! I thought of giving each of the tellers, (who were always cheerfull and very helpful!) a Walker, but no, they might hate me for robbing them!LOL. So I did get a box of candy for the tellers and bank staff with a little card saying thanks for the rolls and putting up with me!
Ratman, that must be awful knowing they had so many rolls and couldnt get any, but theres always next time, thats what makes it exciting!
Eddiespin, yeah, it was so funny we were talking about "hitting it at the right time, and boom, it happened! As for the pic, I took it with my phone
and I'm surprised it came out so good too! I was nervous! ( And Ahemm, I am a lady, No offense though!, I thought it was funny!)
It does seem to be picking up for everyone though, thats great!, I wonder who will be the next one to hit nicely!

Ok makes sense now with the rolls etc, but that's crazy why your bank would rather wait to have a $1000.00 to ship out then sell them to you on site.
Whats their problem about selling you rolls?
That doesn't make any sense at all!
A couple of weeks ago, in between box purchases, I bought $240.00 dollars worth of customer wrapped halfs that they had in their vault and they were happy to get rid of them.
Most of the rolls were duds of course (LOL)but still, I had no problem buying rolls.
Why would your bank want to open the rolls and dump them rather than sell them whole,unless maybe someone in the bank (employee etc) is pulling out any Silver and that's why they will no longer sell them to the public?(you)
The reason why I mention this is that in one of the banks that I order boxes of halfs from, the Head Teller that orders the halfs for me is also a coin collector, goes to coin shows etc and is a avid "SILVER COIN COLLECTOR" - so you know what chances I have of ever getting anything good in that bank regarding loose halfs/rolls etc- ZIPPO! Maybe you ran into the same thing?

Chuckster, it's not my bank. It's just a smaller bank that I happened upon. I can sort of see why they didn't sell them to me. They might have been sitting on those halves along time and finally got enough to send back. If I had bought $200.00 worth, who knows when they would have gotten another $200.00 to top off the bag and ship out? Most ever bank you walk into is glad to get rid of halves one way or another! Thats why we can walk into almost any bank and get all the halves they have on hand! This bank had a sure fire way of unloading $1000.00 in one shot! I really can't blame them.
