Today I went to one bank, they had 3 customer rolls. The teller also said that he had some Ikes, 6 rolls he has had a long time. Well I didn't have the money but I said I will come back for them tomorrow. When I opened my rolls all of them looked copper on the edge, but I look through them anyway. I was surprised to find a 1976 S proof and...... (forgive my terrible photography) There it is! I just posted yesterday that I knew I would find one but I didn't know this soon! Very Happy! You just gotta believe!! So I dumped the rest and went to one more bank, and they didn't have any Kennedys but another teller said she had 2 rolls of Ikes! How funny because it was the same bank but different branch as the last one! Well I bought the 2 rolls and they were all 1976-d Type 1 Ikes, very nice ones too, looked like they were from a mint roll although they were in a wrapper that said Abbott Coin Counter Co., Los Angeles. I might save a few of these, anyway tomorrow I'm getting more Ikes!

Wow! Threads like this really make me want to search rolls of halves. I want some silver! Not to mention filling holes in my album. Congrats on some nice finds.

My fed box last night was an improvement from last week
1965 1967 1968-D
1942 Walker 1961 Franklin
It's been a few weeks since I've had either a Walker or a Franklin so that was nice to get. My wife pulled it from the last roll of the box and she was pretty excited. (I've got her hooked on roll hunting). Now if I could just get her to start stopping by random banks when she is out shopping...

I went back to get my Ikes today, no silver but I did pick out some to save, they were really really nice looking even though they were in circulation. I might have some graded.

A buddy and I (who I think I'm making a roll-searcher out of) went through $1,400 worth last night. The first $500 box yielded one 40% on the LAST roll...guess we started from the wrong end on that one. We then did $400 from a local bank not in a Fed box, and we found 14 silvers in that one - 5-90% and 9-40%, he's going back there for more today. We then laid into the final $500 Fed box and came out with just 2-40% and a 99 Proof. We didn't get skunked on any of them, so I guess that's a good thing. Final tally - 5-90%, 12-40% and a 99 Proof.

Hey Jaobler - I may have visited a couple banks in Portland lately...I'm surprised you got a 40%! Did you make it to the show on Sunday for the Gorham Coin Club? I went for an hour and picked up a nice Thaler. As for searches, had one nice box this week. Pulled 76 coins out of one that included 43 90%. That is the best box for me. They were all Kennedy coins but one, a 42 Walker.

Incidentally an FYI - the buddy I roll searched with actually does mortgages for Wells Fargo and knew the gal that ordered the halves for him. They bag all of the change they get and ship it to the Fed to be rolled, so it really isn't even necessary to use a dump bank, because all of the coin is going to the Fed to be re-rolled so you won't be getting your change back in rolls. I recognize it's probably different for different branchers/regions, but for us anyway if you're getting coin from a branch it'll be "fresh".

Just talked with my father who is now CRHing in the Houston area. Been trying to get him hooked on this hobby for a few months now. He grabbed 5 rolls from a bank there and cracked them open. 19 40's and 9 90's including a 42 walker in Brinks rolls. He promptly went back to the bank and bought another $100 worth. I told him to go clean that bank out as soon as he could.
I have 3 boxes waiting on me to pick up at lunch. Gotta dump to free up some money. Its been a slow silver week so far.
