JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters: Silver, Proofs And Other Finds

Nice pull Cashgardener. It seems harder and harder to find banks locally that point blank even have halves. I have been going thru Fed boxes 3 to 5 a week and have never gotten what you have. I pick up 2 this afternoon and will order 3 more at that time. Happy hunting...

first box ever, nothing! Except one with a hole and one error looking thing it had a lump on both sides in the same place, weird. filled some holes though

I'm going to be ordering 2 boxes next week from Brinks and 2 from the Fed.

Anyone have any decent success with Brinks (brown and white wrappers) versus the Fed boxes? (NF String & Son)

My first ever box from Brinks a few days ago was not good but I'm going to give it one more shot.

The brinks boxes suck compared to what I have seen people hauling from others. I get one box a week right now from brinks and maybe find 1 piece of silver. Today was a lucky day though, I found 3! All 40%

boxes come from a banks cash reserves, it doesn't matter what branch you order from in a particular region. You'll still be drawing from the same cash reserve. If the cash reserve runs out of halves, they either order halves from another regions cash reserve or from the Fed. Its really hit or miss, look to see which cash carriers cater to banks that have coin machines and order from banks that use the same carrier. Banks that do not accept large amounts of coin rarely ship out coin, so if you are drawing from a bank whose carrier has primarily customers that do not ship it coins, you may be drawing from other peoples dumps.

If I dump at Bank A in a town over (different bank altogether from my ordering bank) is it possible I could be receiving my searched halves back again if they both use Brinks?

Responding to Motos's question. It is possible you could receive your own dumps if both of the banks that use brinks use the same cash services office. Brinks has regional offices and many different banks order coin and cash from the same regional office, part of the reason why some people mark the halves they search to see if their drawing from their own dumps.
As per Chucksters question, Banks that have coin machines tend to turn in more silver over time because people are more likely to blindly dump their change into them. Banks that dont have them turn in less, because tellers and others are more likely to get at the silver before it gets shipped out. Once the silver goes into a machine though, it generally gets sealed in a bag before shipped out to that banks cash reserve for counting/rolling. Although I sometimes was able to fish out a silver dime or nickel from a bag if it was sealed sloppily, the seals are quite tamperproof and so tellers cant get at the silver halves in them no matter how badly they want them.
