Interesting follow up to my prior post in which I celebrated the find of 24 silvers in 44 coins.
I went back to the bank to see if any more had come in. The teller who had informed me last time that the other teller had the halves was there and I stopped by to thank her on my way out.
Me: I just wanted to thank you, theose halves were perfect.
Teller: oh great. And they were food ones because they were the silver ones.
Me: yeah, that's what I like.
Teller: I was actually planning on taking some of them....but you got em.
Me: oh, now I feel bad...
Teller: its ok. I was just wondering if they were worth anything more.you know cause of the different color and texture.
Me: *shocked*
No. I did not divulge the secret. The well kept guarded secret that coins made of silver are worth more than their copper counterparts. And she works in a bank!

Secrets are hard to keep in the internet age.

What if the teller decided to Google "silver half dollars" and ended up here at CCF?

I try to keep my silver searching intentions very low key at the banks. I'm sure some (maybe most) tellers are aware of the silver content in older coins, but I'm not going to be the one to spill the beans to anyone who doesn't already know. On my last silver score, the teller told me the halves were silver as she was handing them to me and I just played dumb saying "Oh... OK."

I also do not educate tellers at my banks. I know there are only a few ignorant tellers (unfortunately) at my banks. If the ignorant tellers decide to ask the question of whether or not an old coin is worth keeping, then like jbuck said, these days they can easily google and find their answer.

I just finished my first four boxes for the week, from yesterday, this morning, two skunks. The third box I opened had a s Walker as an ender, so I pushed that box aside and opened the fourth box. Boxes 3 and 4 yielded me 13 pieces of silver, 6-90%ers and 7-40%ers. That walker is a 43S, 2-63 Bennies one a D, 3-64 Kennedy's 2 of them D's.3-67, 3-68, and 1-69, also in the bunch are 3-Clad Proofs, 1-85s, 1-88s, and 1-89s. They are beat up a bit. So I am very happy to the start of this week. I educate my tellers on everything. For the most part, it if frowned upon if tellers are checking rolls for silver while at work, many tellers don't have the currency or interest to get involved with this hobby. I had one teller pull a 43 walker from some loose coins and sold me the rolls in which I pulled out a bunch of silver. She informed me that while working the teller line they are not allowed to go through the rolls. Too many people in line to service. By the end of the day they just want to get rid of them so they don't have to keep them in their tray day after day. That is just my experience in me little town. Wish you all the best of luck. Keep Stacking when you can.

Ouch! From good to bad. Hopefully this ride is a roller coaster and not a free fall.

Today was an awesome day, I pulled my first 1971D Kennedy struck on Quarter Stock, this coin weighs in at 8.8 grams. I have been trying to score one of these for a long time, very shocked it happened now all I need is to score a 1971D on silver stock. lol. I know someone out there has scored a couple of these. I am so excited I got one. My last four boxes today 2 skunks, still pulled 1-64D, I also pulled a 1982 George Washington Commemorative Half Dollar, plus 2-65,2-66, 1-67, 2-68, and 2-69s plus 1-73S Clad Proof. What an awesome way to end the week! Wishing you all the best of luck. May you all have a wonderful weekend. The strange coin that looks like a heart beat monitor, appears someone took a skroll saw to it.

Not me

And once again the forum blocks my hosted pics which is why I no longer post pics unless it is for a good street cred reason.

Bad Karma found one too.

According to ANACS there are more than the few that our members hold.
