I recently purchased from a Reno,NV. bookstore a copy of "The National Catalog of United States Coins" 1934 Price $2.50. I wish I could go back in time! I figured the $22.00 price was well worth the conversation.

I don't have this one but I have Wayte Raymond's Standard Catalogues and Max Mehl's Star Books and Rare Star Encyclopedias. The prices are amazing. Where is that time machine. It makes you think no wonder Virgil Brand put a complete set of US coins together back then, they were so cheap.

Heck, for 75 cents, I'd splurge and get the 16-D in UNC...you only live once!
These old price catalogues are pretty amazing--it suggests how much collecting has taken off in the lat 50+ years.

Thanks jbuck! I normally don't collect anything paper ie. books, currency, baseball cards. They get wet, they are done! I thought this was too cool to pass up. It's in really good shape for it's age too. I also have a 1962 Red Book.

even giving inflation, 25 cents would be equal to probably no more than $15 of today's money

Very nice!

I have a few old books that have been in the family for years, but the oldest coin related book would be a 1979 Black Book (paperback). Do they even make those anymore?

My oldest Red Book is from 1981, but it is not in the best shape, considering I was only 11 when I got it! The next oldest is 1985 and it is in much better shape.

Thanks jbuck. It's in okay shape. Even the prices in there are eye opening. I'll post a 1916-D price from there soon.

I'll take a couple. I'll even pay with 1934 dollars.
