What's with the apparent raised pimples of metal on Liberty's jaw and the 2 of the date? There also seems to be some excess metal on some letters of E PLURIBUS UNUM, some obverse stars, and on many letters on the reverse. I don't recall ever seeing similar features on genuine Morgan dollars. Have you checked the weight of this coin? I suspect we might be looking at a counterfeit. Report this Post to the Staff
SsuperDdave Moderator United States 23522 Posts	Posted 07/03/2009 10:46 am The lesser contrast of the chatter on the cheek tells me it's probably a lot lighter than it appears; deeper gouges would be reflective, at least opposite the reflection of the light. The one dot on the cheek and a couple on the reverse illustrate this point. Decent strike for the issue, but not great. I suspect I'd be with nod2003 on this one - 62-63.
