AU-55 to MS-62, tough to tell unless in hand. This is what we call a 'slider'.

That means the coin could move up to the next grade level, i.e. from AU to MS.

Thad, I thought the term slider meant it is an AU coin...because of the slide marks on it. The slide marks possibly coming from album covers sliding across the coin, or from the coin moving around in a drawer and developing slight wear.

Thad, I came up empty in my search in printed literature this morning. So far what I'm finding says a slider is an AU coin, but I'm looking for the origin of the term. For now, I'm gonna say I was wrong in thinking the term "slider" and "slide marks" are related. I'll keep digging.

pcgs.com glossary definition:
slider: A term used to describe an AU coin that looks, or can be sold as, Uncirculated. Occasionally used as a reference to another grade; a slider EF coin, for example, would be a VF/EF coin that is nearly EF.

That is the problem with slang words sometimes, they have different meanings for different people I have always taken it to mean that a coin could slide up a grade on any given day depending on who was looking at it and generally used to describe a lustrous and eye appealing high AU coin.
