I don't see any doubling, but you may want to wait for some more eyes.

I would have to vote for machine doubling.

Most if not all '72'S are DD's so they are not worth a premium. Look at LIBERTY, if there is doubling there then check IGWT more closely, that's where you will find the real DD's.

I see this all the time and just disregard them as die deterioration.

agreeing with john here.not the clearest pictures to be able to definitively say...to me , however i'd go with MD 'cause the doubling appears 'flat and shelf-like' which are the classical MD 'signs'.don't know if you know aboutwww.coppercoins.com ? any of the commonly 'accepted' doubled dies(DD),rpm's(RPM) ,over mint marks(OMM),ect. are listed and visible there.1st look up-wards the upper left-hand corner for Search the site directly below it is the die variety search http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.phpfrom there you gotta at least enter in a year to start with.*then i'll just hit enter on my key-board or scroll down on the web page till [SUBMIT] button , click-it -n- go.of coarse there are numerous options to refine/narrow your search..Happy Hunting

Better pics would help but am pretty sure it is classic MD. There is no separation at the corners of any of the devises. More importantly, MD happens when you have die bounce and it lands on the existing devise. This makes the primary devise smaller as part of the original devise has been hit again. The shelf effect is cause by the die landing on the devise it had just struck. if you look a the the "2" and picture in your mind the doubling effect at the bottom being part of the original "2", it would be the correct size.
IMHO Jim
