Hey, was wondering if anyone else had the chance to hold the new loonie this year. I went to RBC and took 13 off them at face. As the lady started counting them she was doing it with her bare fingers on the plain coin. I almost freaked at her but just told her to stop and thanked her, lol. My mom held the olympic torch on the way back this year so I gifted one to her.
I haven't held one yet, I'm living in the US right now, But my wife got me the Quarters and loonies set from Zellers. It has the 2008 loon taking off and the 2010 Inukshuk and all the olympic quarters minted from 2007 to 2010. Nice set I think, I'll post photos when My camera works again.

Libertad, what is your problem....??? they are circulation coins....very cheap simple circulation stuff, nothing special. you expect a bank teller to know that you want them for a COLLECTION?
Hey there canadiansailor. I would be happy to mail one off to you, straight out of the roll! Maybe you can send me something Americanish back, of equal or lesser value for my collection. ( Offer good for canadiansailors only!) Just PM me and let me know....

I say yea...they normally would know. If somebody did not collect coins why would they in their right mind stand in line at a bank entirely for the purpose of not asking for a specific variety of coin? They get enough traffic in there to know the persons intent. With ATM's and internet banking, I like most people got better things to do than stand in a queue for no apparent reason, either than ask for something specific.
On the flip side of that coin, today the new ice sledge coin came out. And Canada lost against Japan in the semi-finals, lol. Ended up with 2 rolls of that purdyness so I'm gonna spend the ones I get in circulation. Speaking of varieties, does anyone think that the Paralympic coins might go for any premium in the distant future? Only 2 of the 12 sports have that insignia, and no other in the future will have this obverse. I'm not talking about a real spike in value, just a slight difference as with some varieties out there.
