I've never sold a coin before, anytime, anywhere. Not on EBay, here, or even to another collector. I've only traded a few with my local dealer.
My question is: If I list a coin here at CCF, is it uncool to just put up "make offer"? What if I have a coin that I don't really want to set a price for up front? I would not put it up for "feelers". If I put it up, it would go to the highest bidder.
And if it is ok (or acceptable) to put it up as on offer, what should be the time frame? I wouldn't put it up and leave it for months waiting on a "minimum", otherwise I would just put a price tag on it. But, I also want to give the listing at least some time for some offers.
I just want some feedback so that I don't just jump in there and do stupid things. As I've said, I've never sold before. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I would like to hear what both buyers and sellers think. Then I will decide whether or not to venture into the selling arena.
As a side note, I would not ask for a paypal gift. I would pay the transaction fees.

The rules ask you to place a value on your sale offers here, through experiance we have found that value is in the eye of the holder of the coin and there is much less animosity among the members if they sell their coins for what they believe them to be worth or to sell them below market and below the owners expectations.
this also causes the sellers to do a little research and adjust to the market for any particuilar coin, grade, and type.
its all about knowledge. and practicing what is known to be true.

If you haven't already...take a few minutes and read the rules in the selling forum. They may answer some of your questions there. Still unsure...watch a few of the sales and auctions for a little bit. The best part is that if you want to try it there are no fees involved! If it doesn't sell...no harm, no foul and maybe a lesson learned that there is not enough demand for that coin or price is a little out of whack. The folks here are great and will be happy to answer questions before, during, and after the posting!

If you want offers you have to put it in the auction section. Keep in mind that there is a limited market here. You have to set a starting price you are willing to accept because there is a chance you will only get one bid.
