Australian Coin Values
This laymans guide will identify Australia's most valuable coins and notes to get an accurate idea of what a dealer will pay for them.
I haven't had any luck identifying this VAM if it exists. There seems to be a long die gouge or something that caused a raised spike at the bottom of the eagle's left wing. See what you think and thanks for any input. nlp
that last shot is much better.....a clean shot of the die gouge......don't have an answer for you as many times one small feature is not enough to claim a new variety...LETS SEE what the Vam god's say
The majority of 1883-O varieties have to do with mint mark or date doubling. This gouge is likely an unrecorded feature of an existing VAM, or a feature considered to small to mention in the title (I didn't read the description of every single 1883-O VAM before posting). So, what we do here is use the known identifying pickups to determine which variety it is, and then consider whether it's a previously-unknown feature. That could lead to a minor revision of the description of the known VAM, or maybe even a new sub-variety.
Either way, the study needs to start with mint mark and date.
Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy, and good with mustard.
