Got this quarter fresh from the USMint. Some of the damage on it looks as if there are numbers in front of the face, along with the predominent damage of a screen look. Any ideas?

Is there any indentation to the design in the coin????.

It appears it was a possible strike through coin, a mesh of some type placed over the planchet before the coin was struck, just my opinion....Mike...

Looks like a discoloration or stain from contact with something. Was it in a Mint set, or from a fresh OBW roll? If you found it in circulation it could be anything. Looks like a brick work pattern?

Is that a 2010? And can we see the reverse?

It came out of a USMint bag of 2009 quarters ordered from the USMint.

as far as an indentation, the spot directly in front of the nose seems to have been hit with what I think I see is a letter "L" and numbers in various spots. I will try to get a few close "scans" and post it.

Some new pictures. I added some contrast to bring out a lil more detail.

Looks like it was on the planchet before the strike.

I have a few coins I have been thinking about sending off. I think this one will go along for the ride. I'm a lil excited about it myself.

I think this may be something to do with the way the planchet was washed before striking but not 100% sure
