i have a pope john paul 11 coin/medal/token it is 35mm dia (1-3/8) and 16grammes in weight.its silver color,on the reverse side is a picture of mary with baby jesus on her lap,in a gold color, both sides have (very small) 'italy' and what looks like two seagulls flying on top of a lobster claw.(could this be mint/hallmark)i came across this in my late fathers collection, which I am continuing,i was curious to see if it was silver/gold, and what value, hope someone can throw some light on it
all the best

The mix of English ("Italy") and Latin is somewhat strange ... also, while Częstochowa is a famous pilgrimage place http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Madonna_of_Częstochowa in Poland (which John Paul II visited several times), "O.L." is English for "Our Lady", not Latin and not Polish. You may want to keep it in memory of your father, but I am afraid it won't be worth much.
