1577 France / Feudal States / DombesTeston of Louis II, Duke of Montpensier. Note the use of a crowned lambda as a monogram for Louis. The date is weakly struck at 11h on the reverse.

Well, here is an interesting coincidence: two identical coins! My 1576 Holland Leuwendaalder or 'Lion Dollar' has a bit of a hard to read, partly mashed date, but on close inspection the '76' is discernible.

It is interesting to compare the two coins. Same year but clearly not struck from the same dies.

Nice, if that second set of pics of the Riksdaler was clearer, I'd be drooling all over the place.
Beautiful coin, t360.

t360, a simply awesome riksdaler! Marvellous coin Myself, I am not done yet...but on an extended "vacation" through the 1570s. I'll be back when we reach the 1560s.

If you don't mind parking our TARDIS for a moment I have a few more from... 1575 France / RoyalTeston of Henry III in his first year of reign, mint mark 'G' (Poitiers). "POL REX" in the obverse legend indicates Henry was also King of Poland at the time. Henry III, 1570 by Jean de Court I hate wearing neckties but I have to admit they are better than those frilly collars men had to wear at formal occasions.

1575 French Feudal States / BearnTeston of Henry II (future Henry IV of France), mint mark cow (Pau). Notice the blundered legend at the 'S' in HENRICUS and only one 'R' in "NAVARRE".
