Brazil, 300 Reis, 1936. Carlos Gomes commemorative. Not my coin, but I am considering buying it.
I am not sure if this coin is weakly struck or not, but I give it a XF40 grade. What do you think?

I'm no expert grader, but with the heavy wear on the mo and eyebrows, I wouldn't grade it that high.

Mine looks slightly less worn and I graded this fine. In the U.S. though, I think you tend to grade higher.

This example on ebay is graded MS65, but still looks like weakly struck. https://www.ebay.com/itm/376524951460
The full mustache is visible though.

I'm suddenly hit with a half dozen offers from different sellers for this coin.

Poor Carlos lost his eyebrows on those. Have patience you can find a much better looking one.

Are you "watching" those auctions?
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Yeah, I'll see if I can find an uncirculated example with a better strike.
