I'm a collector at heart. Not just coins. In 1999 I was teaching 4th grade and my students were very interested in Pokemon cards. I got interested. Started buying "first editions' of the base set. I bought several Charizard cards because that's what my students liked. After a couple of years of buying these off of ebay I had an epiphany and said to myself, "what the hell am doing?" Put them all in hard plastic cases in cardboard boxes and threw them in the garage. Fast forward 25 years later and I pulled them out and sent them to Heritage Auctions where they realized well into 6 figures. I estimate I spent maybe $2k on them originally, if that. |
