Thanks loonie , the LCS was selling old stock proof sets minus the silver dollar, 5$ a set, hard to pass up 6 proof coins for 5$.  |

I've bought about 20 sets over the last six weeks, today I grabbed 82,85,86,87 and the 94 special edition set with the pictured loonie. I think it's a no brainer for proof coins at about 82 cents each.

The '87 Voyageur dollar is the same year loonies came out. Gotta love the double dollar issue that year. Only the loon saw circulation, so that's a keeper for sure. They all are. 20 sets. Good stuff. Went out for breakfast today. Saw this on the wall. It's by a local artist, Randy Knott, and I would love to see it on a coin.  "We are poor little lambs...who have lost our way...Baa...Baa...Baa"

Found this thread (very cool stuff, btw) and have to share this newspaper clipping my grandfather left with his coins. He wasn't really a collector, but kept an interesting assortment of nice condition Ike's/SBA's/JFK's and, randomly, loonies. Also sharing the nicest loon of the asylum, though my camera doesn't do it any justice. Nice purple tone in person, most of the junk you see is on the flip.    ...who hasn't fondled a loon?  |
