I made a couple additions to my fractional note set. The first is a red-back Justice note, Fr#1343. I was quite happy with this one, even though the trim at the bottom is a little wonky. This doesn't really bother me as the uneven trim is away from the design. The other is a 25 cents 2nd issue note, Fr#1288. I almost passed on this one as the inking is a bit light; however, the surcharges on the back of this note are very clear (they're often blurred on these). It has a very tight bottom trim on the face, but it doesn't cut into the design. I like that it was formerly part of the Los Gatos Collection, which is the #1 ranked complete circulation issue fractional note set in the PMG registry.

A lot of Fr 1343 Justice notes have one or two tight side margins. Your Justice has healthy side margins. I think you selected a winner.

I've been occupied with working on my Arkansas NBN and obsolete set and large size type set, and have been ignoring the fractional notes for a bit. However, I picked up two new additions tonight on Heritage. The first is an Fr#1350 Justice note in PMG 62. A little lower grade than what I had on my want list, but the nice clear surcharges and bronzing won me over. The centering is a bit off, but not too distracting. The other is a Fr#1234 5c 2nd issue note in PMG 64EPQ. While they are a little faint, the surcharges are quite clear. I was happy with the overall appearance of this note.

As I mentioned earlier, a lot of Justice notes have one or two tight side margins. This example would probably grade Ch CU if there were fuller side margins. Still nice notes with clear surcharges.

It's been 2 months since my last addition to my fractional note collection, but I just picked this one up tonight. This Friedberg number is the toughest of the four 5 cent 3rd issue notes to obtain; PMG has graded only 75, with 11 in 64EPQ and 7 higher (all 65EPQ). The trim is a bit wonky, but it doesn't cut into the border of the design.

Fantastic Fractional, Hokie! Your notes are so beautiful - I love reading your posts.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
