The 1925 Fort Vancouver Centennial commemorative half dollar was issued to mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Fort Vancouver in the Oregon Territory (in the present-day State of Washington). A left-facing portrait of Dr. John McLoughlin is on the obverse of the coin. McLoughlin established the fort for the Hudson's Bay Company and served as its manager until he retired in 1846. On the reverse of the coin, a buckskin-wearing fur trapper is depicted in the foreground with both hands holding his rifle. He appears ready to raise the weapon up, take aim and fire it at a moment's notice whether for hunting or self-defense against an animal or human! 1925 Fort Vancouver Centennial Half Dollar For more of my posts about commemorative coins and medals, including other posts about the Fort Vancouver Half Dollar, see: Commems Collection.
