Thanks, Bill. It is my hope that many folks find the articles interesting. Plus, the articles are illustrated with photos of some pretty special coins.

Got my copy of the mag in the mail yesterday. Again, the quality of the magnified photography was great. These are variety coins that not many know about in the '59's. Another wonderful Turner project.

Okie, I think you just gave Rob some motivation to release a new book that he will title "The Turner Project"

Rob and I have known each other for a long time and worked together on a few projects. But he collects MS 63-65 and I collect XF/AU.

The fifth Uncommon Cents article is now posted in the members section of the RCNA website. The paper CN Journals should also be out soon. This month, we start into the Dominion cents with 1876-H and 1881-H. I have a second article in this Journal edition about a newly found 1859 W9/8 reverse die, RD16. I hope everyone enjoys the articles.

I read them through and, as usual, they belong everyone's library.

Thanks, guys. Next edition will describe three more 1881-H varieties. If anyone is interested in the past articles, joining the RCNA gives you digital access to all previous CN Journals, plus new editions as they are published. https://www.rcna.ca/join.php

In one of the earlier articles, I expressed the opinion that, of the 1859 DP#1 thru #5 varieties, the 1859 DPN9 #3 was the scarcest coin, particularly n high grade. As anecdotal evidence of that, Heritage just sold one in PCGS MS-61 Brown for (USD) $6,500 plus 20% juice, plus probably 7% sales tax, if a US buyer, for a total of $8,350 US. If it was a Canadian buyer, then $6,500 (US) plus 20% plus 15% GST, or about $12,000 CAD. https://coins.ha.com/itm/canada/can...yBids-101116

I watched that auction. It went for about twice what I thought it would go. But it is the finest known. I wonder if Lantern bought it? Or did you get it, Rob?

I dropped out earlier. At least two bidders went higher then I did
It is the highest graded PCGS example (CCCS has a 62 Brown), but has little eye appeal and touch of verdigris.

Well, according to Randy Mason's inventory and assigning Haxby numbers to the 500 or so I sent down to him to catalogue for the book, I'm supposed to have 4. That's what his inventory sheets show. Now, when I look at my 58/59 album, I've only got 2 and don't know where the other 2 went. However, I HAVE had a friend on mine, that Gene knows from Facebook, that I've given lots of Haxby numbers to, but only rarity 1-2's, and some of the 3's I sold if I had more than 2. I remember one that I'd had for a long time and photographed that was very nice, but not MS ... maybe XF-40. Mmmm, I wonder where they went?

Maybe you saw the rarity rating 4 and mistook that for the number of coins.

Yep, that's right .. looking into the wrong column. So, now, not only am I computer illiterate, but my cataract surgery didn't do so well either. As a side note, don't believe them when they say that your "near" vision will be back the way it was. I had 20/10 vision before the surgery and could read the tiniest labels clearly, but now have to use readers. Oh, well, 80 is coming in less that a year.
