Do you collect both the proofs and business strikes of the Shield cents?
Yes, I buy the proof and uncirculated mint sets every year.

The prospect of working on an album like this is awesome IMO. The Washington quarters album from Dansco was also an 8 page album.

and the Washington quarter album series is spread over 8 albums (at least for me - I custom made an extra one just for Satin strike quarters which I used the 7143 album for them) Other than that, my quarters carry through albums 8140, 8143, 8144, 8145, 8146, 8147, and then 8141

I was looking on ebay today and came across this... It was listed as the 70-S small date. However, I am unsure if it actually is. It's a pretty good price, though.

Looks like a small date to me...notice how the curl of the 9 points at the 7...on a large date it points at the mint mark.
Good luck.

30 dollars seems like a pretty good price to me. That said, I'm not too sure I like the way the coin looks in particular. I feel I could find one that looks better than this.
If I'm gonna fork over some cash, I definitely want it to look good.

It looks like it just needs a good acetone rinse, but I am not going to talk you into getting something you are not comfortable with getting. The hunt continues!

Yes! It does. I opted not to purchase it.

I do, however, finally have some coins coming from ebay that I ordered yesterday.

I purchased a 1913-S, 1919-D, 1924, 1927-S, and since I've needed it for a while to complete my steel cents, the 43-D.
The 43-D is BU and the rest are somewhere between VG-XF I believe.

Man, completing the first two pages has definitely proven to be a task within itself! The coins from 1910-1915, more specifically the S minted coins, aren't cheap in XF condition!
I was able to find the 1913-S for under 20 dollars for one in pretty decent shape, but for me, once I start getting outside of that 10-20 dollar range.... That adds up pretty quickly!
Oh well. I suppose it will be part of the journey, as I have opted to not jump on the first coins I come across and instead look around for the best priced ones in the best conditions I can find. BU is obviously out for basically all of the coins realistically on the first page, and I'd say probably the second one, too.

The 1910-S was around 50 bucks from the ebay seller I've been following recently, and a VF condition one is 25. The XF condition 1913-S from them was also around that range as well, if not slightly under. So I was happy to find one that they were also selling for under 20, albeit not in XF obviously.

These are shots of the 13-S from the listing.

Not too bad. Obviously, could be better, but I'd prefer not to spend 50 bucks if I didn't have to!

Thank you! I received the coins yesterday! My first page is getting pretty full. I believe there are 9 empty slots in it now. I also received the 1913-S, which is so far the most expensive coin I have put into this album, around 16 dollars I believe. Pretty good IMO for a semi key date coin, though.

I know, that doesn't sound like a lot and it's not. It is comparably however considering most of the coins that I have purchased have been 10 bucks or under that. Lol.

The 1913-S. Looks a little darker under my camera.

1924. Kind of annoyed by this... I spent 8 bucks on this. I could have gotten it in basically the same condition at my local coin store for 4 bucks. Ah well. my fault.

I finally have all the steel cents, and in BU condition I believe.
Except for maybe the 43... I think it was sold to me in BU, though, so not sure.

Thank you, Dearborn.

On an unrelated note, I also have some Buffalo nickels coming.
I think I am going to start carefully looking into what I purchase, and compare between ebay and my coin store. This way I can find a better price that works with my budget.

All the S mint mark coins from 1910-1915 seem to be semi key-ish dates. Is that even a word? Lol.
I'll pay a little more if that means getting them in decent condition. I believe there are a few other semi key dates on the second page as well. From what I gathered, the 22-D, 24-D, and 26-S seem to be semi key dates possibly. The 33-D also seems to start climbing in price once you start looking at XF specimens.
